June Evans McNatt, of Midland, passed away on June 30, 2005 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital, in the presence of family members. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Chapel with Rev. Jan Reed, officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland.June was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 28, 1919, the first child of James Warren Evans and Nell Rocky Evans. She attended elementary and high school in Norman, Oklahoma, where her mother, then widowed, became professor of Home Economics at the University of Oklahoma. June attended the University, majoring in Home Economics with a focus on dietetics, followed by a year of internship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her university years gained honors as she excelled in studies and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa the women's equestrian program as a "Timbercruiser". Her social affiliation was Kappa Alpha Theta. In 1941, she married James C. McNatt, her high school sweetheart, an all-american basketball player at the University of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years on December 23, 2001.Among other locations, Jim's engineering job with Phillips Petroleum took the family first to Bartlesville, OK, then to Louisiana, Wichita Falls, Alvin and finally Midland. In Midland, June became a founding member of the local United Ostomy Association, serving that group many years. When retirement came, the McNatts decided to remain in Midland where they enjoyed numerous long-time friends. June also had many good friends with whom she played bridge, as recently as May of this year. Travel was another important part of her life. June is survived by her brother, Robert Rockey Evans and wife Lydia, of Lawrence, Kansas, and a sister Carol E. McWilliams of Eugene, OR, daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Don Kirks, M.D. of Cincinnati, Ohio, and her son and daughter-in-law, James Wright McNatt, DDS and wife Marilee of Dickinson. In addition to seven grandchildren and two step grandchildren, she also has six great grandchildren.The family would particularly like to thank her long-time personal physician and friend, Dr. Richard Reese, for his wonderful care throughout the years.In leiu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Manor Park Building Fund, 2208 N.
