Julius Joseph Arlitt, Jr. known by his friends and family as “Bud” Arlitt, 77 years of age and long-time resident of Midland, Texas passed away Sunday August 8, 2021.
Bud was born in Houston, Texas to Julius Arlitt and Helen Heimlich Arlitt. He was the oldest of five brothers. He grew up in Yoakum, Texas where he attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School. He attended Victoria Community College and the University of Houston where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Throughout his life he worked as a commercial artist and a fine artist. He was a member of First Baptist Church Midland, Midland Downtown Lion’s Club, and several local dance groups. He enjoyed camping, playing guitar, cards, dominoes, golf, and collecting coins and arrow heads, and catching rattlesnakes. He was also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Most recently, he enjoyed his work at the local Little Caesar’s and making pizzas for friends.
Bud is survived by his children with Lorraine McDaniel: daughter Rebecca Arlitt Lewis & Chris Lewis (son-in-law) and son Daniel Arlitt & Jay Lee (daughter-in-law), and daughter with Pat Hanson: Nicole Arlitt; his grandsons David Kmiec, Ben Lewis, Sam Lewis, and granddaughter, Eve Lewis. He is also survived by his brothers Bob Arlitt and his wife Rita, Jerry Arlitt and his wife JoAnn, Rick Arlitt, and Ron Arlitt and his wife Donna, along with 14 nieces and nephews.
In honor of his life and the many friends he has made over his 41 years living in Midland, a small memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Midland Tuesday August 17, 2021 at 2:00 “Texas Time.” In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to First Baptist Church.
