Judy Gibbs, 65, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, with Rev. Monroe Teeters, pastor of Salem Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 PM Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, May, Texas.She was born on February 19, 1939, in Alpine, Texas and married John E. Gibbs on August 25, 1962 in Midland, Texas.Mrs. Gibbs was a 1957 graduate of Alpine High School. She was very active in sports and lettered in basketball all four years of high school. In the early 1960's, she had worked for El Paso Natural Gas in Midland and for El Paso Products in Odessa. She had lived in Big Spring for the past 21 years. Judy loved art, photography, golf, traveling, her church and family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved to carefully select and buy toys and clothes for her grandchildren. She had a great love and admiration for her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. McNew of Alpine. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a member of the Big Spring Art Association where she served in many capacities.Survivors include her husband, John Gibbs of Big Spring; her son and daughter-in-law, James "Chuck" and Lindie Gibbs of Sugar Land; three sisters, Donna Storm and Patsy Phillips both of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Sue Mosher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Odis Word of Roswell, New Mexico and three grandchildren, Pearce Council and Granger and Grace Gibbs all of Sugar Land. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane and Katherine. The family will receive friends from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
