Juanita “Jane” Ellis Mulloy

Juanita “Jane” Ellis Mulloy, 88 years old, passed away on January 19, 2023 in Midland TX, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. Jane’s lifelong faith in Jesus assures her a spot in the Kingdom of God and her heavenly reunion with her family should be a wonderfully joyous event.

Jane was born on September 1, 1934 in Dublin TX to Earl Washington and Thelma Alston Ellis. She was the youngest sister to three older brothers, Earl Jr., Alston and Cecil. She was her Daddy’s girl and her Momma’s world.  Jane grew up in Dublin and graduated from Dublin High School in 1951. She stayed in Dublin and worked at the Dublin National Bank and the Rexall Drug Store as a bookkeeper.  Bookkeeping would become her life’s work.   Even though she knew Johnny Mulloy in high school, they did not start dating until he returned from his military service in Korea.  Johnny asked Jane on a date at the urging of his mother because she was not pleased with the quality of his current relationships.  Jane and Johnny were married on May 18^th, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Dublin.  Johnny had started taking classes at Tarleton State University but decided to finish his education at Texas Technological College in Lubbock TX.  Jane worked to put Johnny through school until he graduated in August of 1960 and took an engineering position with Texaco Inc. in Lovington NM.  Jane and Johnny’s first son, Craig, was born in Lubbock while the couple was still in Lovington.  Texaco transferred Johnny to Hobbs NM in 1961 and they were blessed with the arrival of their second son, Gary, also born in Lubbock in 1962.  Their last move came in 1964 when Texaco transferred Johnny to Midland TX.  Midland would be their home for the next 59 years.  Jane was a stay-at-home mother until both her boys were in elementary school and then she took a bookkeeping position with Mary Ann Carr Realtors in 1972.  She made many lifelong friends while working for the Carr family and in the Midland real estate business.  She was very active in Craig and Gary’s lives, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, running the concession stands at the North Central Little League and making sure they made all their doctors and dental appointments plus multiple sporting events.  During this time, Jane was active in PE Wives of Midland, assorted bridge clubs, Ranchland Hills Country Club, the Petroleum Club of Midland and Crestview Baptist Church from 1964 until her passing.  The church was always a passion for Jane, and she made many long-term relationships through their Sunday School classes.  After Johnny started his own Drilling Consulting firm and they got the boys out of college, Jane moved over and helped keep the books for the Consulting firm until 2017 when she retired.  Jane spent many, many happy days at the family lake house in Kingsland, TX on Lake LBJ.  There were always projects to keep them busy.  Johnny would work on the outside chores while Jane kept the inside of the house as immaculate as she always did her home in Midland.  Jane was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2013 but never let it slow her down until the last couple of years.  She continued to attend Texas Tech sporting events, root for the Dallas Cowboys with unadulterated passion and attended George Strait concerts with her friends, her daughter-in-law’s and sisters-in-law up until a few years ago.  She was always scheming on how to track and follow George’s tour bus so she could catch him for another, upgraded autograph.

Jane is preceded in death by her mother and father, Thelma and Earl Ellis, her brothers Earl Jr. and wives Helen and Jenny, Alston Ellis and wife Kass, her daughter-in-law Paula Jo Mulloy, and sisters-in-law Nancy Ellis and Judy Sanders. Jane is survived by her husband of 65 years, Johnny W. Mulloy, sons Craig Mulloy and his wife Bonney and Gary Mulloy and his wife Melissa, grandchildren, Abbey Evans, Brooke Claybrook and husband Zach, Cody Mulloy and wife Emily, Kyle Mulloy, and Landry Mulloy, Matt Davis and wife Mandolin, Marissa Hammers and husband Brandon, great grandchildren Cooper, Cash, Crue, Dylan, Maverick, Maisyn and Benjamin.

The family would like to thank several institutions and individuals for the wonderful care Jane received during her final days.   Thank you to the staff at Manor Park for their help and generosity.  We will be forever grateful to Hospice of Midland for their attentive, loving care in her final hours. And thank you to the staff of Homecare Plus and especially Elisa Gonzalez for the outstanding care Jane received over the last 18 months.  Elisa has been a God send.  Thank you.

Jane was one of the strongest people on the planet.  She was the silent, sturdy backbone of her family and always had her priorities in order, from her belief in God, her love for Johnny and her sons and their families to her devotion to family and friends. She was always a lady in the finest sense of the word, elegant, beautiful, and charming.  She was a very loving wife, mother and ‘Grammy’ to her whole family.  There is no way to quantify the importance she had on our family, and we will miss her with all our hearts, but we are comforted knowing that she will be waiting to welcome us home again in the next life.

The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Crestview Baptist Church.  Pallbearers will be Cody Mulloy, Kyle Mulloy, Cooper Evans, Cash Evans, Zach Claybrook and Brandon Hammers.
