Joyce Lynn Hambleton

Joyce Lynn Hambleton, 79, of Midland, Texas passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and her beloved dogs.

Joyce was born on May 3, 1945, in Sweetwater, Texas. She was the first-born daughter of R.L. and Maxine Brown. Some of her favorite memories were growing up with her loving grandparents. R.L was in the Air Force, so she moved often with her family. After she graduated from business school, she began working at Texaco in Midland. It was at Texaco where she met her husband and soulmate, Thomas Hambleton. They remained happily married for 35 years until his death in 2003.

Family was everything to Joyce. She and Tom raised three children together, Merle, Regina, and Timothy. She loved taking the family on vacations. She also enjoyed playing tennis, growing beautiful flowers, miniature golfing, and most of all, playing card games with family. She enjoyed watching sports, especially when she was related to the players. She was lucky enough to have nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who all played sports, and there was nothing she loved more than watching all of them. Just as much as she loved her family, she loved her animals. Joyce lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for a little over 10 years. On the farm there were sheep, horses, pigs, ducks, chickens, and dogs.

After leaving the farm, Joyce and Tom moved back to Texas to be close to family. Both Tom and Joyce began driving school buses, which became her passion for the next 20 years. She loved seeing the kids every day and knew them all by name.

Joyce is survived by her three children, Merle (Diana), Regina, Timothy, one stepson, Thomas (Evelyn), six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two nieces, three nephews, and her sister, Teresa Krisa (Ken).

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, R.L. and Maxine Brown, and her brother, Larry Brown.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona, Texas.
