Joyce Howard Bradley, 87, of Big Spring, died Friday, October 12, 2018, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Darrell Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends in the parlor at First United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM, prior to the service.She was born August 20, 1931 in Big Spring to E. C. and Rae Wise Howard. Joyce married Carl Bradley June 20, 1959 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death September 28, 2011.A prominent voice in music performance, Joyce received her Bachelor of Music from North Texas State College in Denton and is still regarded as a distinguished alum in vocal music. In the summer of 1958, she toured Europe as a member of the All-America Chorus, performing a solo at the Italian Embassy. She was president of Mu Phi Epsilon, a national honorary music organization, and a member of Chi Omega sorority. She worked as a music teacher in the Big Spring School District until 1991 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a music educator's society. After marrying Carl, they became even more involved in their community and both gave graciously. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter #67 and 1905 Hyperion Club. Joyce performed in many local religious services and was also a member of the Midland-Odessa chorale. She served on the board of the Big Spring Symphony and received a standing ovation after performing, \O Holy Night\ for the last time of her musical career.Her musical talent was a gift from God and even in her failing health, she amazed many caregivers with her beautiful voice. She is now in God's heavenly chorus and we were blessed to have had her to sing for us.Survivors include one sister, Delores Howard Currie of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lynn L. “Bill” Howard and John Howard; and two sisters, Maxine Howard Roberts and Geraldine Howard Parrish.The family suggests memorials to the Joyce Bradley Vocal Scholarship Fund in the music department at Howard College, 1001 Birdwell Lane, Big Spring, Texas 79720.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
