Joy Johnke, 71, of Big Spring, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the funeral home.She was born February 26, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas and married Alvin Johnke in January of 2006 in Big Spring, Texas.Joy was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and graduated from Angelo State University when she was 38 years old. She had worked as a family service counselor in funeral service and had worked with children through MHMR.She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, Alvin Johnke of Big Spring; one daughter, Debbie Haden and husband, Shawn of Ft. Worth; two sons, Gary Carey of Big Spring and Terry Carey of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; one sister, Linda Kay Appleton of Big Spring; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Butler Appleton; a daughter, Pam Christian; and two brothers.The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.
