Beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Joshua Dewayne Bennett passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 42.
Josh was born on December 2, 1983, to Russell and Jamie Bennett in Midland, TX. He was selfless, steady, loyal, and always there for his people. Calm, cool, collected, Josh carried himself with quiet confidence, humility, and an incredibly quick wit.
Josh married the love of his life, Melanie, in 2007. Their relationship was built on laughter, loyalty, deep love, and unwavering support. To Melanie, Josh was her person, her life partner, and the best friend she could have ever asked for. He was her steady hand through everything, her biggest supporter, and the person who made life brighter, more fun, easier, and fuller simply by being in it.
Josh was a devoted father who never missed a game, practice, trip, or important moments for his boys. He loved spending time with his family, whether that meant traveling together, coaching the boys’ teams, sitting in the stands to cheer them on, or just being home together. Paxten and Maddox always knew their dad was there for them.
Josh was deeply loved by his family and friends because he made people feel seen, heard, supported, and valued.
Josh was preceded in death by Papaw Bennett; Grandpa Bodnar; Mema and Papa Ewing; Grandma and Grandpa Robinson.
He leaves behind his wife, Melanie Bennett; sons, Paxten and Maddox Bennett; parents, Russell and Jamie Bennett; sister, Rachael Cole and her husband, Will; brother, James Bennett and his wife, Brittany; parents-in-law, Jeanne Robinson and Robert Porter, and Don Robinson and his wife, Kellye; sister-in-law, Jennifer Robinson; brother-in-law, Trey Robinson and his husband, Ryan McGuire; step-brother-in-law, Jake Humble; along with grandmothers Sharon Bodnar and Ellan Bennett; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
