Winifred Millwee, 83, of Big Spring, died on September 24, 2003, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Ralph Anderson, Minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park . She was born on August 19, 1920, in McCaskill, Arkansas and married Williford J. Millwee on March 10, 1942, in Alexandria, Louisiana. As the wife of a U.S. Air Force member, Mom lived in various locations in Texas, California, Japan, and North Carolina. Following Dad's retirement from the Air Force in 1967, they settled in Big Spring. Mom was employed with Gibson's Discount Center for sixteen years. Twenty years ago she began volunteering at Scenic Mountain Medical Center where she served in numerous positions. Following the death of Dad on October 6, 1995, Mom moved to South Canterbury. She developed many friendships while residing there. These friendships and her activities provided her a source of further enhancing her quality of life. Mom has always possessed an enduring devotion to her faith and family. Her unconditional love, sense of humor, and positive outlook on life has enriched our lives beyond words. Mom has touched the lives of many people through her warmth and compassion. While she is no longer physicaly present, her influence will be felt by generations yet to come. We love you and look forward to being reunited with you. Our family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to members of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, the Scenic Mountain Medical Center Volunteers, residents of Canterbury, and her numerous friends. Their support and genuine affection have added significantly to the quality of life she has experienced over many years. Mrs. Millwee was a member of the Church of Christ and the Elbow Extension Club. Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Tom and Mary Millwee of Austin, and Billy and Beverly Millwee also of Austin; one daughter & son-in-law, Martha and Stewart Dalton of Garden City; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Bridget Dalton of Lompoc, California, Jimmy and Paula Dalton of Garden City, Thomas Dalton of Denton, Jason Millwee of San Marcos, Jenny Millwee, Nicole and Bryce Taylor, Amanda Millwee, Elizabeth Millwee, Heather and Donavin Greenberg all of Austin, six great grandchildren, Danny Dalton, Stewart Dalton, Marcus Dalton, Jacob Dalton, Kadie Ellen Dalton, and Sierra Greenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, and two sisters. The family suggests memorials to the Children's Home of Lubbock, PO Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408.
