Josephine Lujan Miller long time resident of Midland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. A visitation with Rosary will be Saturday at 6:00 pm September 3, 2022, at Nalley-Pickle, & Welch Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St., Midland, TX 79705.
Josephine Lujan Miller was born on December 21, 1944, in Marfa, Texas to Maria Lujan and John Robert Miller.
Josie grew up in Marfa where she made lasting memories with her three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Marfa High School and went on to marry and have a son and daughter. She was a hard working single mom, enterprising in the many ways to provide for her family. From selling burritos, reselling someone else’s cast off to treasure at the “Must Go Shop” located in Ft Stockton as an added feature to the Miller Meat Market. Josie was not one to be still or not monetize an opportunity where possible.
She was was known to be teased about buzzing around town in her yellow car called “Bumble Bee” and whether it was a race car, Volkswagon, or SUV, she managed to speed around town without getting a ticket. Josie was always on the go!
Home was her castle and every stone was carefully and meticulously placed and when the final view did not suit her, she would rearrange each paver stone or brick until she was pleased with her work. She continued to rearrange stones until the doctor finally told her to stop. Making home hospitable and a welcome place for friends and family was important.
She was a proud patriot with many family members that have honorably served our country. Red, white, and blue being displayed for every major holiday and patriotic remembrance remained a must even when she was unable to hang things herself.
Most important to Josie was her faith and family. She knew well where her help came from and she exercised well that family is not just by birth but those chosen to love as family. She took many into heart as what she referred to and loved as “her children.”
Josephine is survived by her very special Friend Jerry Damm, son Jonathan Williams, wife Barbara Williams, daughter, Dr. Veronica Sites and husband Michael Sites. Her grandchildren: Cassandra Williams, Wraith Williams, Stephanie Michelle and husband Brandon Shook, Amy Kristine Reyes and husband Saul Reyes Jr., Sarah Lynn and husband Tyler Weaver, David Michael Sites, Lesa Anne Gaines and husband Christopher Gaines and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, sister and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents John and Maria Miller, brothers John Miller and Robert Miller and sister Mary Lou Marquez.
The family would like to express gratitude to the care team of Interim Hospice, Martha Ramirez and her team, and many friends that were part of Josie’s care.
