Joseph Whitaker Reynolds was born on April 4, 1930 to Russell L. Reynolds and Daphne Heald Reynolds in Newport, Maine.He lived most of his younger life in Clinton, Maine where he graduated from high school in 1949. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force serving four years as an aircraft and engine mechanic. While serving as a staff sergeant he was stationed in England, Texas, Illinois, and Arizona.After serving in the Air Force he worked for the New Departure Division of General Motors in Bristol, Connecticut for three years.He moved to Southern California in 1958. During his residence in California, he graduated from Long Beach City College with an Associate Degree and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California.During his twenty one years in California he worked on various aerospace programs such as the Apollo, Saturn II, and B-1 Bomber for North American Aviation and Rockwell International. Later he worked on the Boeing 747 for the Northrop Corporation.While living in California he met and married Sandra S. Standefer, his wife of 45years. Their daughter Jessica was born in California. Jessica resides in Washington State and has two daughters, Nicole Hirayama and Dana Hirayama.In 1979 Joe moved to Richland, Washington to work for Rockwell International at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation as an Engineer until he retired in 1994.He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge Sebasticook #146 in Clinton, Maine for 55 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Masada Shrine while living in Washington State.Joe’s passion was playing golf which he did for 44 years until poor health forced him to quit. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.In 2008 he moved to Texas where he lived for 6 years until passing on May 24, 2014.
