Joseph Howard Sharpnack, “Joe Boy”, 86, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Fisher County, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Row Cemetery in Colcord, Oklahoma.
Joe was born on July 29, 1936 in Pawnee County, Oklahoma to Arthur Howard Sharpnack and Charlyne Iris Britt. Joe graduated high school in Kermit, Texas. He was in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962 where he was an expert-rifleman. He had a brief marriage to Dolores McCuistion in 1967 and they had one child, Rockie Sharpnack along with two step-children, Ronnie and Russel McCuistion. They lived in Colorado until 1974 and when they divorced, Joe moved to Big Spring and starting working at the George H. O’Brien Jr., VA Medical Center.
In 1977, he married Patsy Morton Wade and became a step-father to Kirk and Kim Wade. Joe and patsy went on to be married for over 40 years. Joe resided in Big Spring for many years and was a well-known figure in the community. He was an avid golfer, fisherman as well as a cheerful soul. He participated in local baseball games, golf tournaments and bowling leagues. He loved playing golf and frequently played at the Comanche Trail Municipal Golf Course. He was cherished by his family and friends and will truly be missed.
Joe is survived by his brothers: David Sharpnack and wife Jeanne and Buster Sharpnack and wife Elizabeth; his son: Rockie Sharpnack and wife Anita; stepsons: Kirk Wade and wife Theresa Rodriguez, Ronnie McCuistion, Russel McCuistion; grandchildren: Matt Harper and wife Hayley, Troy Harper, Kelly Wade and TJ, Tyler Wade, Shay Wasson and husband Chase, Kenzie Rogers, Jeslie Rodriguez, Matley, Georgia and Levi Harper, Rylan Wade, Cal Wasson, Cash Wasson and Reese Wade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Charlyne Sharpnack, his wife Patsy Morton Sharpnack, one brother Richard Sharpnack and step-daughter, Kim Wade.
