Josefina Gutierrez, 72, of Coahoma, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her residence. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Big Spring with Father Ariel Lagunilla, officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma.She was born on February 14, 1936, in Martindale, Texas and married Silberio Gutierrez on March 25, 1957 in Lovington, New Mexico.Mrs. Gutierrez enjoyed hunting and camping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She assisted in her community needs and activities. Josefina was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Secretariat Board of the San Angelo Diocese for three years and a member of the Crucillista since 1972. She has hosted and celebrated the Epiphany all her life. Her mother originally did it and then she continued the tradition. As the celebration grew, she could no longer have it in her home; so she continued the celebration at St. Joseph Catholic Church.Survivors include her husband, Silberio Gutierrez of Coahoma; six daughters, Patricia Bryant, Dominga Elder, Amelia Herrin and Mary Gutierrez all of Coahoma, Martina Gereats of Kerrville and Delia Gutierrez of Red Oak; three sons, Silberio Gutierrez, Jr. of Sand Springs, Willie Gutierrez of Forsan and Billy Gutierrez of San Angelo; two brothers, Beltazar Moreno of Lovington, New Mexico and Eliaz S. Moreno of Odessa; one sister, Kuca Burrintes of Plains; and forty-three grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, David Mark Gutierrez; one grandson, Anthony Louis Franco; her parents; seven brothers and ten sisters.
