Josefina was born on February 16, 1937 in Tyler, Texas to Lucia and Federico Gomez. She married Felix Sanchez in 1954. She and Felix spent most of their lifetime in the Ackerly area. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and wela. She enjoyed listening to the Catholic radio, loved gardening and definitely had a green thumb, and was an amazing cook making everything from scratch. Josephine attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lamesa Texas for many years and then upon moving to Midland, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She never missed a Sunday mass and it was only upon her becoming ill that she no longer was able to attend. Josephine’s faith was undeniable and prayed the rosary on a daily basis. She never lost contact with her Lamesa church family and loved them dearly.
Josefina is survived by two sons, Henry (Patsy) Sanchez of Big Spring, TX, Ricky Sanchez (Mujesira M.J.) of Twin Falls, Idaho, and one daughter, Lupe (Abraham) Yharte of Midland, TX. Three brothers, Ralph Gomez of Ackerly Texas, Juan Gomez of Stanton Texas, and Fred Gomez of Yakima Washington. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Josefina is preceded in death by her parents, Lucia and Federico Gomez, her husband Felix Sanchez, four brothers, Domingo, Clemente, Jesus, and Julian Gomez and two sisters, Maria and Rufina Gomez.
