Jose Munoz, 91, of Big Spring, died Monday, February 18, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.He was born March 13, 1921, in Marfa, Texas and married Maria Refugia Martinez December 31, 1943 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death September 18, 1977.A resident of Big Spring since 1941, Jose worked as a custodian at Big Spring ISD and then worked at Sid Richardson where he retired. He loved watching baseball and driving tractors for farmers in his spare time.He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.Survivors include four sons, Jose Munoz, Jr. and Manuel Munoz both of Big Spring, Federico Munoz of Fort Worth and Roberto Munoz of San Antonio; four daughters, Delores Garcia of Madera, California, Irene McCurdy of Denver, Colorado, Mary Flores of Corpus Christi and Anita Birley of Lubbock; three sisters, Natalia Herrera of Midland and Paula Martinez and Librada Lopez both of Big Spring; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jesus Munoz, Pedro Munoz, Leon Munoz and Phillipe Munoz and three sisters, Estella Martinez, Augustina Upton and Maria Garza.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
