Jonel Edwards Smallwood, 68, of Big Spring, died Monday, May 30, 2016 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at First Church of the Nazarene in Big Spring with Rev. Calvary Callender, officiating. Interment will follow at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery East in Hamlin, Texas.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.Jonel was born February 5, 1948 in Rotan, Texas and married J. W. Smallwood March 24, 1968 in Alpine, Texas.She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and an educator in both Odessa and Big Spring.Jonel is survived by her husband, J. W. \Jay\ Smallwood of Big Spring; her brother, James Edwards and wife, Diane of Hamlin; several special grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Smallwood; her infant son, Berry Smallwood; and her parents, John and Earlene (Johnson) Edwards.The family suggests memorials be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 S.
