Payne, Johnny Mack, 81, of Stanton, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2001 at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Harp, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born on February 6, 1919 in Clarksville, Texas and married Mary Workman on September 10, 1943 in Childress, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 8, 1993. He moved to Martin County in 1945 after his discharge from the Army . He was a retired farmer retiring from farming ten years ago. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Payne served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 until his discharge in 1945, where he was a camoflage tech and received the American Theater Ribbon, A Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal. He was also a member of The American Legion. Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Parum of Weatherford; three granddaughters, Debbie Gardner of Austin, Donna Johnson and Laura Parum both of Weatherford; and one grandson, Brandon Parum also of Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Myrtle Payne, a brother, Leo Payne and two sisters, Irma House and Mary Ruth Payne. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.,
