Johnnie Brown was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 10, 1937, the son of Johnnie Ray and Wanda Goodman Brown. He attended Electra High School and graduated from Baylor University in 1960 with a master’s degree in Geology. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a geologist in Houston, San Antonio, Albany and Midland, Texas. He lived and worked in Midland for most of his life, where he was a leader in the community and well respected in his chosen field. A dedicated Christian, who lived his life by his faith, he was an active member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. He helped found Cornerstone and served as an elder. Through the years he was a compassionate Christian friend and mentor to many he met through the church and in the community. He and Linda enjoyed traveling with friends and often joined former classmates for events at their Alma Mater, Baylor University. He also had a great love for the outdoors enjoying hunting trips to Argentina and fly fishing for bonefish on the Yucatan Peninsula. His favorite outdoor refuge was on his Shallow Sport boat fishing the shallow waters of the Lower Laguna Madre out of Port Mansfield. He had many wonderful trips to the Mansfield Club with his family and dear friends. Always a man of dignity and integrity, with a kind demeanor, a happy smile, and a ready wit, Johnnie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
