John W. "Beevie" McGregor, 92, of Colorado City, formerly of Knott, died on Thursday, December 18, 2003, in a Colorado City hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jesse Colegrove, Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.He was born on March 30, 1911, in Howard County, Texas and married Raye Goode on December 12, 1949 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.Mr. McGregor was a longtime resident of Knott and had farmed for many years. He had worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a maintenance and permit clerk. He liked hunting, fishing and being outdoors.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colorado City. He served in the United States Army during World War II.Survivors include his wife, Raye McGregor of Colorado City; his step son, Donald "Pat" McPhaul and wife, Shirley, of Colorado City; three grandchildren, Ricky McPhaul and wife, Tracey, of Big Lake, Randy McPhaul and wife, Kelly, of Colorado City, and Julie Rogers and husband, Ronnie, of Littlefield; eight great grandchildren, Chase McPhaul, Calen McPhaul, Callie McPhaul, Zachary McPhaul, Stephanie McPhaul, Aaron McPhaul, Ryan Rogers and Reese Rogers; one sister, Jo Davis of Lubbock; three nephews, Johnny Winton McGregor and wife, Mickey, of Post, Kenny Davis and wife, Jackie of Fort Worth and Jerry Davis of Lubbock; one niece, Barbara Remkus and husband, Tom, of Lewisville and numerous friends.
