John R Busley, 90, left for that big race track in the sky April 22 2014. John was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Vivian Stout Busley and later his friend and companion Viola Barnes. John leaves behind one son John R. Busley Jr. of KY, three nieces Vicky Fowler, Janie Henderson, and Donna Spillman all of KS along with many long time co-workers, neighbors, and friends in Midland.John was a combat pilot in WWII, in the 309th fighter squadron flying Spitfires, Hurricanes, P-40, P-47, P-51, and UC-78s, with 54 combat: patrol, escort, and strafing missions covering 795 flying hours and 276 combat hours. He was an instructor in combat tactics for a replacement training unit. He served in the Southern France Air Offensive Europe, – Rome/Arno campaign. John received the European African Middle Eastern Theater service air medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Unit Badge, and Distinguished Flying Cross.Dad spent most of his working life in the Oil Patch throughout TX working for Chevron until his retirement.Dad enjoyed life, racing sports cars in the SCCA, his animals, photography, and hiking Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks in Texas along with any place else he could put down his boots or set up his tripod.He will be missed!!,
