John M. \Huck\ Huckabee, Jr., 80, of Big Spring, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Derrick Looney officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.Huck was born January 29, 1936 in Hamilton County to John M. and Alice \Bobba\ Shipman Huckabee. He married Peggy McMillon December 21, 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico.He had worked as a mechanic for over 60 years and received numerous awards and achievements in the automotive field. Huck had a very strong passion for drag racing and won numerous championship trophies. He loved teaching young people from Webb Air Force Base and Howard College the art of mechanics.Huck is survived by his wife, Peggy of Big Spring; two sons, Rickie Huckabee and wife, Jenny of Aubrey and Monty Huckabee of Corinth; three daughters, Tressa Dukatnik and husband, Danny of Whitharral, Penny Ringener of Corinth, and Monica Staggs and husband, Tommy of Ackerly; ten grandchildren, Jill Crawford, Jim Dukatnik, Kande Hein, Cody Dukatnik, Stacia Priddy, Tiffany Ringener, Brandon Carter, Morgan Hrncirik, Meagan Hensley, and Jerad Staggs; seven great grandchildren, Hailey Crawford, Luke Crawford, Haydn Dukatnik, Cooper Hein, Spencer Hein, Scarlett Hein and Kole James; a brother, Jimmy Don Huckabee and wife, Mary Iwana of Chandler; four sisters, Wanda Jean Watson of Chandler, Betty Garner and husband, Jack of Hobbs, New Mexico, Vickie J. Watson and husband, Wayne, and Jo Etta Hart all of Big Spring.He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack Huckabee and Jerry D. Huckabee.Pallbearers are Jimmy Johnson, Don Reed, Jack Cathey, Gary Prater, Stanley Phillips and Don Belew. Honorary Pallbearers are David Poe, Ben Lockhart, Jim Craft, Sam Chaney, and all of his coffee buddies at Dell's Cafe.The family suggests memorials to The Alzheimers Association, 4400 N.
