“Pinky” John Cecil Arnold, Jr, left this earth Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at peace in his home, surrounded by family, having finally succumbed to ALS. His attitude throughout was stellar, not angry, just accepting the cards life dealt him.Pinky was born August 29, 1948, the son of Cecil and Stella Arnold. He is survived by his children, John Paul Arnold (Tiffany Le) and Audrey (Joel) Vann, their mother Cindy Engle Arnold, Heather (Mike) Lane; six grandchildren, Mason, Jonathan and Jessie Vann, and Hannah, Hope and Holly Lane, his daddy, John C. Arnold, Sr., sister, Carla (Lynn) Dickey, numerous other family members, his furry buddy Angus, and countless wonderful friends.Never one to sit still, Pinky enjoyed vast interests and hobbies, including music, travel, history, birding, collectibles, and was an avid reader. He never feared trying some new venture, never met a stranger, and was always ready to help others. Pink would talk to a fence post if no one was around, and was never shy to express his own opinions. He loved life, wanted to experience every aspect of it, in every new place he could visit.Thank you to everyone who visited, prayed for, reminisced, cared for, checked on, encouraged, and loved on Pinky during his illness. He loved you back, and you can bet he’s got a party going on enjoying his new life. Immense gratitude and love to Peggy Lee, without who’s generous and constant care our beloved Pinky would not have been able to live out his illness in his home.Pinkster, we all shall miss you. Celebration of this Life fully lived will be 10:30 am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Alan Matthies, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the ALS Association, or Heritage Museum of Big Spring.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
