John Carter "Izzy" Izard, 90, of Artesia, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at his daughter's home in Midland, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ Chapel in Midland with Ronnie White officiating. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, New Mexico, at 3:00 pm (MDT) Saturday. He was born on July 31, 1915, in Forrest City, Arkansas. Izzy moved to Artesia, New Mexico, in 1936, and started working for the refinery. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He met Dorothy McDonald in Artesia, and they were married on January 3, 1946. They shared 59 blissful years together. He worked for Navajo Refinery as district foreman in operations at the north side plant in Artesia. After 40 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1977.Izzy loved all aspects of nature, especially horses. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ. Izzy was a Christian man who brought joy, humor, and happiness to all who came in contact with him. Sweetness and thoughtfulness flowed from within until the very end.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McDonald Izard of Artesia; one daughter, Carol Ann Wilson and her husband Todd M. of Midland; one grandson, Colton John Wilson of Lubbock; a nephew, Russell Phelps of Rockwall, TX.He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Sidney Izard, M.D. and Gussie Izard, a brother, Ralph Izard, a sister LaVerne Phelps.The family suggests memorials be made to: Midland Christian School, 2001 Culver, Midland, TX 79705; or to Home Hospice, 901 W.
