September 7th 2007 Joe Snow completed his life's work of more than eighty years. Beloved husband, father, Grandfather, Great grandfather, Brother-in-law, Uncle, and neighbor – Joe ended his lengthy battle with a terminal illness which he endured and fought to his final breath. Born in Mexico November 5th 1926. Joe attended Midland High School – Class of 45'. Drafted into WWII he served honorably in Hawaii until the Pacific War conclusion in August of 1945. Subsequently, he returned to Midland for his high school graduation. Thereafter, Joe enrolled in Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene Texas, and he graduated from HSU in 1949 with his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree – majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. After college Joe started work locally with Rotary Engineering Co. later to become Rotary Engineers Labs, Inc.. Rotary staff provided core analysis, testing and geological consultation services throughout West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. During this time he met and married his lifelong partner, love, and wife Romona – November 23, 1950. Romona had traveled from her home and family in Lake Charles, Louisiana and relocated to Midland. Joe and Romona began their family soon thereafter. Joe remained at Rotary for more than forty years where he began as a core analyst technician, advancing to lab co-manager, vice president and finally retiring as owner in 1993. Joe and Romona celebrated fifty-six years of marriage together alongside their three children Rheta Page, Duane, and Vickie Collette.While growing with Midland and local petroleum industry, Joe attained his 32nd degree with Midland Masonic Lodge – No. 623.Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Rheta Trafford, father John Snow, brothers Ray and Curtis Trahan, and nephew Glenn Trahan. His adoring and loving survivors include wife Romona, daughter Rheta Page and son-in-law Gordon, son Duane, Vickie Collette and son-in-law John, Grand daughters Keely and Danielle Collette, Great grandchildren Francesca, Vincent, Myles and Alexis, nephews J. (Curt) Curtis Trahan, William D. (Bill} Trahan, sister-in-law Jane Trahan-Wooley and by many relatives, friends including the MHS Class 0f 45' and dear neighbors. Joe's life and personal accomplishments serve as a sterling example and inspiration to many who knew him and who appreciated his efforts and personal sacrifices. We love you. We miss you, and you remain within our hearts and memories always. We know that you will continue to guide and watch over us all throughout the remaining days of our lives.Private services for Joe and his family are arranged through Nalley- Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
