Joe Michael Weaver, 63, of Midland, passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Midland, Texas on Saturday, February 28, 2015. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held March 3, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Skip Hedgpeth officiating.Joe Michael Weaver was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on September 12, 1951 to Joe T. Weaver and Doris Mason Weaver.Mike graduated from Andrews High School and attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship; he graduated from the University of Houston. He had a love for all sports and was an avid fisherman. Mike was happiest when he was with his family, especially if that included a fishing trip. Mike never missed an opportunity to go fishing. Some of his most favorite moments were fishing with his brother Phil and son Joe in Canada, camping trips to Colorado and family gatherings in Rockport. Mike had a successful career in the oilfield and a spirit of entrepreneurship; most recently with his wife Becky and their partnership in Becky’s Flowers. Whatever Mike worked at; he met it head on and with all his heart. He had a really big heart! Anyone that knew Mike would tell you that he had a sense of humor and wit that was sparkling. Mike was the oldest of 4; he was adored by his mother and father, and idolized by his siblings. He never met a stranger and his vivacious love of life influenced so many. Although he was known as Mike Weaver to most; a few had the privilege of calling him Sweetie, Dad, Granddad Mike, Uncle Mike and Big Mike. He loved them all!He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Weaver. He is also survived by his father Joe T. Weaver; sons, Joe R. Weaver (Christy); Jason Weaver of Lubbock, Texas; and his daughter, Erin Renfro (Monty) of Anna, Texas; his stepson Todd Glasgow (Carla) of San Diego, CA; and stepdaughter Elizabeth Hale of Midland, Texas; his brothers Phil Weaver (Kasey), of Midland, Texas; Chris Weaver (Ruth) of Houston; his sister Jana Lewallen (Joe) of Irving, Texas. He cherished his 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris and daughter Julie. No doubt, Mike left big shoes to be filled. His family and friends find comfort in knowing he will be spending eternity in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hughen Center, www.hughencenter.org.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
