Joe was born December 30, 1947, in Midland, Texas, as the 11th of 12 children to Francisca and Jose Robledo, and married Olivia Robledo on August, 9, 1970, in Midland, Texas.
Joe Robledo proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). He enlisted on February 26, 1968, and completed infantry training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, followed by armor training at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. While training at Fort Hood, Joe received orders for service in Vietnam. He deployed on November 25, 1968, and honorably served a full 365-day tour, returning home on November 25, 1969. During his time in Vietnam, he was assigned with the MOS (Military Occupational Service) 13B40 (Field Artillery Crewman) to Battery C of 6th Battalion, 11th Artillery that provided support for the 23rd Infantry Division (Americal Division). His service reflected courage, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers and to his country. Following his active-duty service, Joe continued his military commitment in the United States Army Ready Reserve from November 1969 to 1971 and then in the Standby Reserve from 1971 until 1973. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM), and the Bronze Star Medal (Bsm), one of the Army’s most respected decorations. His years of military service remain a lasting testament to his patriotism and sacrifice.
After Joe’s military service, he then went on to earn his associate’s degree at Midland College. He took on many jobs, ultimately retiring from the Texas Department of Transportation in 2008.
While Joe took pride in his military service and in his work with the Texas Department of Transportation, he was especially proud to be a loving father and grandfather.
