JoAnne Hyer, 78, of Big Spring, died peacefully surrounded by family Monday, January 16, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.She was born June 18, 1938 in Colorado City, Texas and married Reginald Hyer April 22, 1989 in Midland, Texas.JoAnne grew up in Colorado City and graduated from Abilene High School in 1956. She was the Executive Director of both Canterbury North and South Retirement Homes. She was always putting others first even through illness and was always being the advocate. She was a member of the St. Mary's Episcopal Church and was a founding member of Howard County Shooting Sports.Survivors include her husband, Reg Hyer of Big Spring; one son, John Guitar of Clyde; one daughter, Lesli Nichols and husband, Martin of Knott; two step-sons, Clinton Hyer and wife, Yvonne of Los Angeles, California and Chris Hyer of Midland; one step-daughter, Rebecca Marsh and husband, Steven of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Mary Guitar, Trisha Stannard and husband, Justin, Steven Nichols and wife, Kayla, Garrett Nichols and wife, Katie, Chase Hyer and Ashley Marsh; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Stella Stannard; a sister, Brenda Fitzhugh and husband, Bryans of Cleburne; a brother-in-law, Patrick R. Hyer and wife, Vera of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, JW and Cleo (Shepherd) Greene; an infant son, Repps B.
