JoAnn Canaday Lopez, 71, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Though our hearts will be sad and heavy with the loss, we know that JoAnn is walking in Heaven with a big smile on her face and without pain. JoAnn was a Christian, a member of the Baptist church and a resident of the Midland community since 1985. JoAnn Canaday was born in Borger, Texas on November 3, 1943 to Walter Stanley and Virginia (Newland) Canaday. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Howard College in 1976. During her career as a Registered Nurse, JoAnn worked in the ER, ICU and the CCU as well as for Home Health and for private duty. JoAnn loved being with people and she never met a stranger. She had a big heart and gave so much to those around her. JoAnn loved animals, playing the piano and working outdoors in the garden. But her real passion was painting and ceramics.JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Kellye Ulmer and husband, Konn of Midland, TX; her daughter, Toni McKibbin and husband, David of Waco, TX; her granddaughter, Meagan Ulmer of Midland, TX; her dear friends, Karl Hernandez and Linda Baker of Odessa, TX; her sister, Sandi Van De Car of Buckeye, AZ; her niece, Angie Yarbar and husband, Ritchie of Big Spring, TX; her niece, Gina Patterson and husband, Chris of Phoenix, AZ; her nephew, Wally Morgan of Denver, CO; her nephew, Mike Canaday of Lake Charles, LA; and numerous friends, all of whom loved and will miss her dearly.JoAnn was preceded by her parents, Walter Canaday and Virginia Peil; her step-father, Leon Peil, her brother, G.N. Canaday; and her second husband of 18 years, Tony Lopez.There are no services planned at this time.
