Joan Platt Fambrough, age 91, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 17, surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home of Midland, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Joan was born on October 19, 1934, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Terris Earl Platt and Mamie Jewel Pleasant.
After graduating from Sul Ross University Joan began her teaching career in Midland Texas. She taught the first grade for 31 years in both Midland and Odessa.
Joan loved to visit and laugh with her friends and family and was known for her great sense of humor. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas and loved to volunteer both there and at Meals on Wheels. She loved being a grandmother and adored spending time with all of her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Bassham and his wife, Donna; Derek Bassham; Leslie Fambrough; and David Fambrough; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie B. Fambrough, brothers William Harold Platt, Jimmie Pleasant Platt, and parents Terris Earl Platt and Mamie Jewel Pleasant.
Joan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
