Joan Marie Meyer

Joan Marie Meyer, 86, of Big Spring, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Joan was born on July 8, 1939, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, to Michael L. Goblirsch and Veronica F. Forster Goblirsch. She grew up in Minnesota and carried with her a strong sense of family and devotion throughout her life.

Joan was employed in several different fields throughout her working life before retiring. She loved working with people and was known for her reliability and caring nature. In her free time, she loved working in her yard. She also enjoyed cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, listening to music by Randy Travis, and most of all, spending time watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and play.

She is survived by her children: Julie Harwood (Jeff), Jane Meyer, Jerry Meyer (Jackie), and John Meyer (Lisa). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Tyler Sheppard (Chelsea), Heather Sheppard (Tarrance Sullivan), Cody Sheppard (Shasta Hector), Kara Neel, Matthew Meyer (Amber), Billy Meyer, Shannon Meyer, and Chelsea Imler (Paden). Joan was further blessed with great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Jaida, Jayden, Peyton, Allison, Kailayni, Shawn, Norah, Lynnox, Boone, Laykn, Genevieve, and Isabelle.

She is also survived by five sisters and three brothers, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Joan will be remembered for her love of family, her warm presence, and the joy she found in the lives of those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the many generations she helped shape and nurture.
