Joan Allen

Joan "G-Jo" Allen, 83, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Memorial services were held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Manor Park Chapel with Chaplain Bill Billett, officiating. Private burial was at Resthaven Memorial Park. She was born October 4, 1925 to Andrew and Victoria Morrison. Joan grew up in Enid, Oklahoma and graduated from Enid High School in 1941. On June 23, 1951, she married Earl Allen at St. Ann's Catholic Church Parsonage in Enid. They were married 58 years. She worked as a secretary for Fidelity Motor in Enid until 1952. Shortly after, Earl and Joan moved to Midland, and she worked for Shell Oil as a secretary until 1958. After raising her family, Joan became a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics. Throughout her 25-year career for Avon, she was presented with the President's Club and Rose Circle awards. She loved to bowl and was involved in several leagues, and she also loved traveling to Las Vegas several times a year with her husband. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland. Survivors include her husband Earl of Midland; daughter and son-in-law Merry and Doug McGee of Midland; three grandsons, Allen McGee, wife Jordan and their daughter Bayleigh all of Rotan, Daniel McGee of Midland and Trey McGee of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Juanita Morrison, and a brother, Dr. A.V. Morrison. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702, or to Meals on Wheels, 3301 Sinclair, Midland, TX 79707, or to the Employee Christmas Fund at Manor Park, 2208 N. Loop 250 West, Midland, TX 79707.
