Jimmy Wayne Townsend of Midland, passed away on Friday, Jul 15, 2022. Services will be at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 26th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Jim was born on December 13, 1945, in Slaton, Texas to Claud and Iva Townsend. Jim married Sherry LaDell Holley, his wife of 52 years, on January 7, 1966. Jim began his sales career by opening an appliance store, followed by becoming an independent furniture representative for multiple dealers. His last endeavor was designing and selling his own line of rustic furniture. Jim earned many accomplishments and awards during his years of hard work. He was awarded for having the top sales for Amarillo Hardware and Ashley Furniture. He also served as President of Southwest Roadrunners. Jim enjoyed making people laugh and was loved for his humor and quick wit. He enjoyed getting together with family and reminiscing with his siblings, as laughter was heard throughout the house.
He is survived by his two daughters, Shawndell Barron and her husband Travis of Midland and Crystal Horton and her husband Dave of Aledo; three grandsons, Conner and Sawyer Barron of Midland, and Mason Horton of Aledo; and his sister, Claudine Edwards of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Townsend; parents Claud and Iva Townsend; his brother, Eugene Townsend; and his sister, Cherie Zavitson.
