Jimmy Wayne Roper, Sr., 44, of Big Spring, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm Friday, July 1, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Jimmy was born April 4, 1978 in Big Spring, Texas adopted by Billie Maxine (Powell) and Boyde Bratcher Roper. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He married Jaye Burt on March 22, 2003. He was mechanically inclined and loved to tinker with anything and everything. He loved riding his Harley, fishing and helping people. He had a huge heart and loved his family. He worked for Cornell Corrections from 2001 until 2009. He finished his career there as a Captain for Airpark Unit. In August 2009, he began his career at Big Spring FCI where he became the HVAC Foreman. He had a total of 21 years in corrections, and no matter what he had everyone’s six.
He is survived by his wife Jaye Roper; four sons: Dylan Roper, Colton Roper, Jimmy Roper, Jr., Alstion Roper and daughter Shawna Quernheim; his mother-in-love and father-in-love Temple and Gary Burt; and three grandsons: Axl Roper, Levi Roper and Oliver Creel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
