Jimmy Frank Young passed away at Hospice of Midland in Midland, TX on August 5, 2012. He was born to Jones Franklin Young and Daphna Lucille "Dutchie" Young in Abilene, TX on August 22, 1946. The family resided in Abilene most of Jimmy's life. He graduated from Abilene High School and was a proud member of the Abilene High Eagles football team. After graduation, Jimmy attended Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. In 1967, Jimmy joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam on a destroyer. After completing his military service, Jimmy worked at KSEL in Lubbock, TX, sold office equipment for A. B. Dick Company, and even worked in the Abilene zoo. For most of his professional career, however, Jimmy worked for Dowell, which later became part of Schlumberger, Inc. While there he worked as a dispatcher and as the QHSE coordinator. He retired from Schlumberger in 2003. That same year his wife, Karan, became a pastor in the United Methodist Church. Jimmy spent the last years of his life in ministry with her and was living in Sunray, TX until his illness brought him back to Midland.In 1989, Jimmy met and married his wife Karan. They loved to travel and saw most if the United Kingdom as well as Aruba, Mexico, and Hawaii and a good part of the United States. Jimmy was always curious about many things. He loved to read and hear about space travel and would have loved to take a trip to another planet. He always watched the skies and wondered what was out there. Jimmy also loved to make Christmas special for the children of Midland. He helped Santa find his way many a Christmas Eve. Jimmy also loved his bowling team. Over the years he tried everything he could to get a perfect score. Jimmy and Karan never had children of their own, but in 1997, Shonna Deel Garcia, came into their life and became a daughter of the heart. Jimmy was always "Pappaw Jimbo" to her son, Connor. Jimmy loved them very much.Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of kindness and consideration to everyone he met. He has so many friends all over this state. He loved them all.Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Jones Franklin Young and mother-in-law, Jane Sadler.Jimmy is survived by his wife Karan of Sunray, TX; his mother "Dutchie" Young of Midland, TX; his daughter Sacha Loudermilk and husband Anthony of Mansfield, TX; his sister Ann Kay and husband Jim of Odessa, TX; his brother Joe Young and wife Cindy of Midland, TX; father-in-law, R.A. Sadler of Odessa, TX; brother-in-law, Robert Sadler and wife Joanna of Odessa, TX. He is also survived by three granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Last but not least, Jimmy leaves behind his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Daisy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Midland, TX. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
