Jimmie Ray Clark went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.Jim was born November 19, 1937, in McClean, TX to Edith Almedia Wood Clark and Roosevelt Fillmore Clark. The family moved to Cecil, AR, when Jim was 3 years old. He graduated from County Line High School in 1955 and moved to Pueblo, CO to attend railroad station agent/telegrapher school. After school, Jim was offered a job in the state of Washington as a telegraph agent. He worked 3 ½ years before being drafted into the U.S. Army. After boot camp at Fort Ord, CA, Jim went to radio teletype school at Fort Gordon, GA, and was then shipped to Böblingen, Germany for 3 years.Jim and Carolyn Hicks were married while he attended telegrapher school, and after Jim received his honorable discharge in 1966, they moved to Plano, TX where they started their family. Jim and Carolyn adopted two children: Michael Scott in 1966 and Cynthia Ann in 1967. He coached baseball, soccer and football when his children were young, and he was the director of the Youth Association in Plano during that time.Jim attended Metropolitan Technical Institute in Dallas and graduated with an associate degree in science. He went to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas in 1966 and was transferred to Midland, TX in 1984 where he continued to work until he retired in 1998 as Specification Manager.Jim and JoAnn Travis met in the singles class at Golf Course Road Church of Christ. They were married February 8, 1996, recently celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. They spent their retirement years enjoying their grandchildren and great- grandchildren, as well as traveling to many different destinations throughout the U.S. and Europe.Jim was active in serving with Meals on Wheels and Single Parent Camp in Ruidoso, NM, running Grandpa’s Workshop. He was a member of the church planting committee at GCR for the past 9 years and considered it a great honor to participate in this very important work for His kingdom. He and Jo Ann worked in various servant activities at the church and with their care groups. It was a very happy 20 years for the both of them.Jim is preceded in death by his mother, father and two older brothers, James Fillmore Clark and William Chris Clark.Jim is survived by his wife Jo Ann, son and daughter, Mike Clark and Cindy Richardson, both of Midland, step-daughter Cindy Nelson and her husband Glenn of Odessa, step-son Curtis Travis of Odessa, 7 grandchildren, Jordan Clark, Brady Richardson, Cameron Jones, Cara Nelson, Caylee Nelson, Cody Travis and Shay Travis, 4 great-grandchildren, McKenna Clark, Grant Clark, Maddison Travis and Riley Travis, and 1 brother, Roy Clark of Canyon Lake.A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 6, 2016, at Golf Course Road Church of Christ.The family would like to give a special thank you to Home Hospice and nurses, Lori Case and Shari Evans for their kindness and care during this time.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Midland Christian School or to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. ,
