Jimmie “Jeannette” Hewitt, 87, of Midland, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning, March 24, 2018. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Monday, March 26, 2018. Funeral services will be at Midland’s First Assembly of God on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 2:00PM with Pastor Mike Hanks officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons Dustan Foster, Sandan Foster, Wendan Foster, Jonathan Hewitt, and David Hewitt and close family friend Lloyd LaBombard.Jeannette was born on October 25, 1930 in Midland, TX to John and Laura Vaughan. She is proceeded in death by her identical twin, Joanne Brownlee, two older sisters LillyJean Towers and Laverne Osborn, and her husband of 67 years, Clifton “Eugene” Hewitt. Jeannette and Eugene had two children. While her husband was serving in Korea, she completed business college and helped run her family’s business. Long before it was the norm, Jeannette worked outside the home to support her family while managing her household. Although the work varied, her passion for serving others well never wavered. Whether making the best desserts possible for elementary school children or guiding college students in selecting the right books and supplies for their education, Jeannette served each person with love, kindness, and a ready smile.She gave of herself freely to anyone who needed her. She loved caring for children, especially babies, and frequently served in the church nursery, caring for generations of precious infants. Jeannette was an amazing woman, a loving wife, caring mother, and feisty grandmother affectionately called “Nanny” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She set a wonderful example of living a full, joy-filled, and giving life for all who knew her.Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Brenda Foster of Midland TX and son John Hewitt and wife Vanessa of Rowlett TX; eight grandchildren, Dustan, Rustan and his wife Bethany, Misty, Sandan and his wife Kari, Wendan, Hannah, Jonathan, and David; four great grandchildren Cierra, Jonah, Micah, and Evah.The family would like to express their gratitude to their church families and friends who have provided outstanding support.In lieu for flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley, Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
