Jimmie D. Newsom

Jimmie D. Newsom, 67, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 4, 2003 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Don and Sandy Smith, officiating.     He was born on January 8, 1936, in Howard County and married Virginia Murphy in 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas.     Jimmie was a lifetime resident of Howard County. He was a horse and farm enthusiast and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.     He had served in the United States Navy.     Survivors include wife, Virginia Newsom of Big Spring; three sons, Jimmie Newsom and Shane Newsom both of Big Spring and Robert Murphy of Illinois; one daughter, Jana Upchurch of Fort Worth; one sister, Natalie Roberts of Big Spring; two brothers, Dan Newsom of Big Spring and Dean Newsom of Chandler; and five grandchildren, Kevin Upchurch and Ashley Upchurch both of Fort Worth, Michael Newsom of Big Spring, Taylor Newsom of Kerrville and Richie Merritt of Big Spring.      Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
