Jim Ray, 53 passed away peacefully November 12, 2009 at his home in Midland.Survivors include Petey Ray and son Shane Bright, two daughters, Skeeter Shook (Wes) of Weatherford, Texas; Raychel Castle (Scott) of Pasadena; Texas; parents Weldon (Shorty) and Nancy Ray of Anton, Texas; two sisters, Debbie Eppard of Anton, Texas; Kathie Sandorskey (Mike) of Amarillo, Texas; three grandsons, Kelton Shook, Kooper Shook and Anthony Castle; numerous nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends.Jim was born April 20, 1956 in Belen, New Mexico and lived most of his life in Midland, Texas. His greatest passion in life was anything involving horses; cowboying, team roping and Polo were his favorite occupations and pastimes. His favorite job was his most recent one, working for Polo Player Tom Sikes, whom he really admired. Jim Ray was fun-loving and never met a stranger. He ran into someone he knew no matter where he was. He was a practical joker and kept his great sense of humor even throughout his illness. He will be greatly missed along with his e-mails and text messages.The family would like to thank the whole team at Home Hospice, including his nurse Lori Treadwell and Rosie Pegueros, CNA and his private caregivers we fondly call "The A-Team", Adria Seals, Amanda Garcia, Amy Taylor, Anna Gonzales. The A-Team made his decline and passing as comfortable and FUN as possible!! Patsy, our prayers and thoughts are with you. We did not know Jim well, but we know how happy you were together. Pat and Hank

We have known Jim for many years and even though we didn't see him often, we still considered him a good friend. Our sympathy goes out to Petey and all of Jim's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My condolences to Petey and all the families. May you have comfort knowing that Jim is resting in peace!

We have lost a true COWBOY in every sense of the word and he will be sorely missed. We are lifting you all in prayer and asking God to give you an extra measure of His love and peace in your time of grief.

Jim was the kindest and fun loving person you would ever want to know. He will truly be missed by his close friends and the one's of us who knew him afar. God has eased his suffering and although he is in a better place, it still makes it hard to know he's not around to flash his sweet smile. May peace be with all of his family and loved ones. I know you are facing some difficult days. I wanted you to know many are thinking of you and lifting you up in prayer. I appreciate all you have done for my family members over the years and your friendship to our family. There are many fond memories of Jim Ray to be shared that will bring you great joy.
