Jewell "Son" Edens, 85, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Joe Torres with Home Hospice, officiating.He was born on December 30, 1922, in Howard County, Texas and married Mary Lou Weaver on May 31, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas.Mr. Edens served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked as a contractor for 50 years, then as a pumper for CRMWD for seven years, retiring in 1985.Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Edens of Big Spring; two daughters, Beverly Thompson of Coahoma and Rhonda Robertson of Big Spring; one son & daughter-in-law, Dandy and Laura Edens of Big Springs; one brother, Bobby Joe Edens of Big Spring; three sisters, Marie Dennis of Cuopland, Louise Tatum of Ft. Worth and Patsy Wallace of Humble; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters. The family suggests memorials to the donors favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. I am sorry we will be unable to attend Son's memorial service. Son, and all his family have been in our thoughts and prayers for quite sometime now. We have fond memories of Son. Much could be said about what he has meant to us. Much too much for this note. Let me just say that we all knew him as a hard and talented worker with a rough exterior but a heart of gold. He deserves peace without suffering, and we pray that is the case for him now, and all the family. May God Bless and keep you all through this difficult time.
