Jessie Charles Draper, 86, of Forsan, Texas has passed away into Eternity October 21, 2023. A Gathering will be Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11am at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Jessie or J.C. was born 8/02/1937 to Clifford and Nellie Draper in Howard County. Jessie served in the U.S. Military from 1954-1962, with Active overseas, and reserve time as a Communications Specialist. During this time, he also met and married his beautiful Bride Barbara Ann Byerley, February 17th, 1960.
A dedicated man to his family and career, Jessie worked at Sid Richardson Carbon Black Plant for 31 years. During this time, he raised his son Jay and daughter Cheryl in Big Spring, Texas. Retirement for Jessie meant “trying out” new locations to live, but he always managed to return home to Big Spring for years at a time.
Jessie was an amazing Grandpa. He cared deeply for his children and grandchildren, he got to create many amazing memories. Some included spending time at Sea world, late nights watching fireflies, still moments chatting about ‘How times have changed’ and shooting guns together. His Granddaughter Tasha got to live alongside Jessie and Barbara for many years. Jessie enjoyed just hanging out, chatting about Politics, and watching Tasha’s family grow.
Survivors include Jay Draper of Midland, Cheryl Draper of Lubbock, Tasha and Joey Oakley, with their six children of Lubbock; Alicia Draper, and two daughters, of Lubbock, Chris and Hannah Draper, with one son, of Lubbock, Jessica Banks, and daughter, of Waco, and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Barbara with 57 years marriage. His parents Clifford and Nellie Draper, his sister Verna Louis Draper, as well as infant siblings a young boy and girl.
