What a marvelous life Mr Blair had. 99 years and mostly healthy. It has taken about 40 years for me to regret leaving Big Spring. Now I see through the stories of Mr. Blair and other fathers and mothers of Big Spring when they have passed, why they stayed out in West Texas all those years. It provided them a much richer life than we who moved to the cities have experienced. I pray for God to provide his blessing for the Blair family.

A neighbor and a wonderful teacher, Mr. Blair had a profound impact upon so many lives both in his career and his life. My sympathy and the sympathies of the Class of 1964 go out to the family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. My sister, Melinda Hernandez, was one of the caregivers to Mr. Blair. My sister was very touched by Mr. Blair and his loving family. She loved to please him by cooking and baking for him. She knew he loved his sweets. Melinda will miss him very much, he was loved by many people and was extremely fortunate to have such a loving son and loving daughters. Again, my thoughts are with you at this time. Respectfully submitted, Terry and Lou Merz

It was a pleasure to have known Jesse. Although I saw him at family reunions over the years, we didn't really get to know each other until he was in his early nineties. When the Howard County Library got computers, I became almost as much of a "fixture" there as Jesse was. One day he saw me using a computer and said he would like to learn to use one. We started meeting weekly and I would show him what I knew. Soon he was typing in website addresses I had selected and using the mouse to my "whispered" instructions, which of course were probably annoying to other users, as that was before he got his hearing aid. Still, we enjoyed the experience and marveled at all the things we could find on the internet. I was impressed that someone his age would even attempt such a challenge--but then Jess was always one of a kind! He had a sharp mind and a good memory. I remember hoping that I would be that alert if I lived to be that old. Unfortunately, our web surfing days ended when they put all of the computers in a small room with a timer on each and a long list of rules you had to agree to abide by if you wanted to use them. One of those rules was, "Only one person per computer--NO EXCEPTIONS!! I encouraged Jesse to try it on his on but he never did. We continued to see each other at the library as he was there often to check out videos and I was there to use the computers. I enjoyed our visits and learned many things about him and from him. I considered him more than the husband of a cousin, I considered him a good friend. My sympathy to his family. I wish each of you a happy life. Love, Nelda Callarman
