Jerry Wayne Dickens, age 63, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 after a brief debilitating illness. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his family. Family, friends, and others whose lives Jerry touched are invited to the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home located at 3800 North Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM to reminisce, grieve, support one another and of course, just chat. A memorial service to commemorate and honor Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel and officiated by Jerry's friend and pastor, Robert Frazier. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens located on Rankin Highway (Hwy 349), Midland, Texas.Jerry was born on March 22, 1954 in Brownfield, Texas to James “Doc” Dickens and Nannie Lee Poteet Renshaw Dickens. He attended public school in Midland, Texas and graduated from Midland High School in 1972. He also attended college courses at Midland College.In 1975, Jerry and his father co-founded Jerry’s Welding and Pipe Supply Company. He was a good businessman and worked alongside his father, Doc Dickens and his brother, Jim Dickens.Jerry was preceded in death by his father, J.C. “Doc” Dickens, mother, Nannie Lee Poteet Renshaw Dickens, his infant sister, Dessie Lynn Dickens of Midland, Texas, half-sister, Bessie Ray Renshaw of Overton, Texas, half-brother, James “Buster” Renshaw of Caldwell, Texas, half-sister, Dorothy Renshaw Daly Beemer of Bothell, Washington, and nephew, Gabriel Renshaw of Caldwell, Texas. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Debbie Dickens of Midland, Texas, sister-in-law, Rosa Renshaw of Caldwell, Texas, and nieces and nephews: Amelia Harris of Venus, Texas; Irma and Ziggy Perez of Arlington, Texas; Rosa Lee and Younes Ataiiyan of Santa Rosa, California; Rita Renshaw of Grand Prairie, Texas; Marie Renshaw-Hubbard of Huntsville, Texas; Kenneth Dickens of Midland, Texas; Missi and Jay Chesnut of Midland, Texas, and Justin and Jennifer Dickens of Midland, Texas; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Jerry is also survived by his right-hand assistant, Angie Paulk, and close friends, Maria Nunn, John Hudson, Pat Repman, Ronnie, Repman, and Ivy Bowers. He will be missed by all, but most of all by his two furred children, Red and Riley.Jerry truly lived life to the fullest by enjoying simple pleasures; establishing lifelong friendships, spending time with family, his puppy dogs, lunching with friends, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing, and mentoring his many nieces and nephews. He was especially proud of the Trike his brother, Jim, created for him. He was an endowed member of the Grand Lodge of Texas Acacia Masonic Lodge #1414 of Midland, Texas and a life endowed member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Valley of El Paso Orient of Texas.Pallbearers will be John Hudson, Ivy Bowers, Pat Repman, Ronnie Repman, Mike Love, and Kevin McQuistion.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals, 4200 North Fairgrounds Road, Midland, TX 79705.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
