Jerry Jon Currie, 47, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, July 16, 2005, in a Lubbock hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel, Big Spring with Rev. Keith Wiseman, Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. Jerry Jon was born in Big Spring, Texas on September 22, 1957. He graduated from Big Spring High School and was involved in 4-H and continued to participate in his interests of raising and showing cattle. He was active in the families ranches in Glasscock and Oldham Counties. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association.Survivors include his son, William Jon Currie of Big Spring; his father, Jerry Currie and wife, Delores Currie of Big Spring; brother, Bill Currie of Big Spring; step-sister, Nicole Bash of Dallas; his special niece and her husband, Natalie and Kayne Stroup of San Antonio; aunt, Barbara Currie Ratliff of Garden City; uncles, Neel Barnaby, Jr. of Palestine, Texas, and Dr. B. Broadrick of Big Spring; cousins, Ronnie Broadrick, Linda Jo Broadrick, Ingrid Broadrick, and Laura Ratliff Huitt; several other beloved cousins and friends.Jerry Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Barnaby Currie, and sister, Diana Currie Nichols.Honorary pallbearers include Fred Green, Ronnie Broadrick, Jose Lopez, Tommy Kimmel, Gary Hopper, Bruce Hatfield, Jeremy Samora, Neil McMorris, Ronnie Wood, and Luke Huitt.The family suggests memorials be made to the Diana Currie Nichols scholarship at Howard College, 1001 Birdwell Lane, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to a favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
