Jerry Paul Fuqua Sr. passed away on Friday, October 20, 2006 in the Midland Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Mount Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring with Dr. Jimmy Braswell, officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home located at 906 S. Gregg St. in Big Spring.He was born January 10, 1942 in Big Spring Texas to Marcella King Fuqua and Paul Fuqua. He moved to Odessa when he was one and lived there until 1956 when he moved back to Big Spring. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1960 and joined the Army in 1961. He attended Midland College and worked for the US Postal Service in Big Spring and Midland. In 1997 Jerry's kidneys failed and he was placed on dialysis at the Permian Basin Dialysis Center in Midland. For three days each week this was his world and he became very fond of the employees and other patients. Jerry loved football and fishing when he was able to go and spending time with his family on special occasions.He was preceded in death by his parents Marcella McCabe and Paul Fuqua, sister Jean Sneed and grandparents Jack and Alta King.He is survived by his son Jerry Fuqua II of Midland; son John David Cates of North Richland Hills, TX; Ex-wife and caregiver Mickey Sue Branch of Ft. Worth, TX; four grandsons Adam Fuqua of Cisco, TX, John Cates, Matthew Cates and Mark Cates all of Odessa, TX; four great grandchildren; sister Eddie Johnson and husband Bill of Odessa, TX; three nieces Vicki Johnson of Midland, TX, Sherri Ford of North Richland Hills, TX, Kellye Johnson of Odessa, TX; nephews Mark Johnson and wife Carol of Odessa, TX, Jody Sneed and wife Gail of Midland, TX; great niece Stevie Johnson of Odessa, TX; great nephews Landon Johnson, Cole Johnson of Odessa, TX and Dylan Cole Ford of North Richland Hills, TX; great aunt Pauline Pierce of Odessa, TX.The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, P.O.
