Jerry Don Ford, 72, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 30, 2009 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.He was born September 8, 1937, in Abilene and married Lana Heald on November 7, 1969 in Midland.Jerry Don was a big NASCAR fan and was a hard worker all his life, starting at age 13. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was a member of the National Guard. Jerry Don was an auto dealer and owned his own business and detail shop. Later in life he and his wife began transporting classic cars to auto sales and auctions in various states coast to coast, making many memories and many friends along their journeys. His wife was the light of his life and his whole world. He liked anything that had to do with cars, from building and restoring to selling or racing. He was honest to a fault and enjoyed collecting coins. Jerry Don was a Presbyterian.Survivors include his wife, Lana Ford of Midland; one son, Chad Ford and wife Carol of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two granddaughters Kayleigh Sparks and husband Ricky of Kingsland, Georgia and McKenna Ford of McCamey; a great grandson Kegan Norred of Midland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Ford; and a sister Joy Pearle Ford.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
