Jeremy Ryan Smith, 27, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died on Saturday, June 14, 2003, near Notrees, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, with Rev. Clydel Chapman, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, Odessa, officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Texas. He was born on September 24, 1975, in Big Spring, Texas and married Tasha Helms on June 2, 2001 in Midland, Texas. Jeremy was a 1994 graduate of Big Spring High School. He was #77 for the Big Spring Steers football team for four years and was in the Big Spring Choir and Rapsody for four years. He was active in the youth, music and softball at Hillcrest Baptist Church. In 1994, he was an American Airlines Travel Agent graduate. Jeremy had lived in Lubbock for the past 2 years. He was currently employed by WalMart in Lubbock as an assistant manager. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle and singing. He loved everybody and never met a stranger. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Tasha Smith of Lubbock; two daughters, Lauren Smith of Big Spring and Devyn Smith of Lubbock; his mother, Cyndi Billington of Big Spring; two sisters, Krystal Smith of Big Spring, and Melinda Mitchell of Coahoma; two brothers, Mike Partlow of Lubbock and Corky Mitchell of Coahoma; his grandparents, Dave and Fran Jansch of Big Spring; his grandfathers, Kenneth Howell of Big Spring and Edwin Ditto of Kermit; his nieces, Amber Partlow of Lubbock, Celeste Helms, Hailey Helms and Mia Ramirez all of Midland; his nephew, Xavier Ramirez of Midland and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Tonya Helms of Midland. He was preceded in death by his father, David Smith; one brother, Cameron Smith; his grandmother, Barbara Ditto; his grandfather, Curly Pruitt and his great grandparents, D. P. and Nellie Thompson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the college fund for his daughters, Lauren and Devyn, %Midland Community Federal Credit Union, 600 N. Marienfeld, Suite 110, Midland, Texas 79706. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home in Big Spring.
