Jeanette Hartegan, 87, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at a local hospital. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm March 31, 2005 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Rodney White, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland. She was born on May 29, 1917, in Leavenworth, Kansas.She was raised and attended school in Leavenworth. She lived in Midland for two and a half years, coming here from Kansas. Jeanette was a loving and caring mother and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Jeanette had a strong faith in God which she instilled in her children. Survivors include her son, Gene "Bud" Smallwood and wife Shirley of Garland; one daughter, Karla Long of Midland, five grandchildren, Kyle Long, Kara Ross, Chris Smallwood, Clint Headley, Kellie Headley, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Hartegan, parents Frank and Mary Jane Hittle, a daughter Jeannine Headley, and a grandson, John Headley. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702. They also wish to thank Hospice of Midland for the loving care given to Jeanette during her illness.
