Jean Jackson Cook, 86, of Big Spring died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at her residence in Tyler where she resided the last eight months. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, Minister of 14th & Main Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will recieve friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the funeral home.She was born June 7, 1922, in Leonard, Texas, and married Robert J. (Jack) Cook on April 26, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. Jean lived most of her life in Big Spring. She graduated from Big Spring High School and was the first President of the Big Spring High School Student Body.Jean had a "true servant's heart." She was always ready and willing to meet any need to those she loved and to those that needed a helping hand. She loved serving in the nursery at her church caring for the babies during worship services. Her "perky spirit" always encouraged everyone that she served and befriended. Jean loved playing Bridge and was a Life Master Bridge player. Although, this was a significant achievement she was more comfortable fishing, picking peas, mending all of the alteration needs of her friends and family, and dropping in on her friends and neighbors. For those of you that knew and loved her, words can only describe the "bright spot" she was to everyone as well as those she never knew she touched.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. (Jack) Cook; her parents, Charles Jackson and Lavenia Maude Ross Jackson; and her sister, Margaret Battle.Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne Mahon of Tyler and Jacquelyn Stacey of Irving. Grandchildren, Kelley Smith and husband, Russell of Tyler, Ross Conner and wife, Stacey of Tyler, Banning Sweatland and wife, Cassondra of Keller; and three great-grandsons, Jack Conner of Tyler, Conner Smith of Tyler, and Caden Sweatland of Keller. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Mack Jackson of Shreveport, Louisiana; and surviving nieces and nephews.Pallbeareres will be Ross Conner, Banning Sweatland, Russell Smith, Bob Battle, Ronnie Baird, Bob Purser, Jay Purser, and Bud Jackson.
