Jay Brock, 74, of Midland passed away on the morning of September 4, 2014, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church Chapel of Midland at 3:00pm with Reverend David Johnson officiating.Jay was born on March 15, 1940, in Buffalo, Oklahoma to Robert and Laura Brock, the youngest of ten children. He was raised in Laverne, Oklahoma and graduated from Laverne High School in 1958. Jay married Rozann Hunter in 1961 in Woodward, Oklahoma and they had four children during their thirty-two years of marriage together. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in the West Texas area for thirty years, starting as a roustabout and retiring as a supervisor at the Sprayberry plant. Jay loved to restore old cars and shared his knowledge and passion for vehicles with his son Paul. He married Melba “Jody” Sanders in 1994, further extending those who were blessed to be a part of his family. Following his retirement, Jay continued to use his skills, helping his children with a number of construction and home improvement projects. He loved working with his hands, and was a truly skillful craftsman.He is survived by his daughters Lauri Smith and husband Jack, Cheri Brock, Melani Terrill and husband Mike; his son Paul Brock and wife Carla; step-daughters Sandy Bradley and husband David, and Tonnie Milligan and husband Brad; his brother Basil and wife Ivalee. He had nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Laura Brock, and wife, Melba “Jody” Brock.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
