Jay Averett, 81, of Midland, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007 in Odessa. Services will be held at a later date.Jay was born July 24, 1925, in West Monroe, Louisiana to John and Anna Averett. He married Patty Ashby on February 24, 1946 in Gatesville, Texas.Jay attended Stamford High School. He moved to Midland in 1976 from Wichita Falls. He owned office furniture stores and dry cleaners. He was a member of Kiwanis in Wichita Falls. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, but most of all he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Patty of Midland; a daughter, Diane Pollard of Midland; a son, Danny Averett of Colorado City; a daughter, Dana Potter of Odessa; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
